Shannon Falls is part of Squamish, BC on the Sea to Sky highway about two hours out of Vancouver. Another popular feature is 'The Chief', a massive rock face drawing rock climbers.
You approach the falls from the bottom. It's not until you go to a circular viewing area that you get to see the scale of it, which unfortunately the photos don't convey.
1 of a 3 frame panorama of the area.
Frame 2 - The falls end with a calm rather cold stream.
Frame 3 - The trees were fantastic throughout the trip.
Sharon and I, thankfully the second shot came out ok. The first pic, the camera decided to focus on the trees behind us.
Whistler Village close to the hotel. Next was a ride up the Whistler mountain. There were lots of people walking around even in the off season. - Mountain bikers with downhill bikes and full body armour were there practicing for the Red Bull Round Up happening the next week.
The view from on top of Whistler Mountain. In the background the Roundhouse lodge. Mmmm cheese burger and fries. It was great.
Looking out over the coastal range. In the background the arrangement of rocks is one of the Symbols for the upcoming 2010 Winter Olympics.
Some more people checking out the view. It wasn't as cold as I thought it was going to be up the mountain. I being dressed in a t-shirt was quite happy about that.
Another feature of Whistler is the Peak to Peak Gondola that spans the 4.4 kilometre gap between the Whistler and Blackcomb mountains.
On the Peak to Peak - At this point we're close 435 meters above the ground. On the way back to Whistler was where I saw my first black bear.
A mountain range to the right when traveling towards Blackcomb.
A few of the snow grooming machines. All taking a rest while waiting for the soon approaching winter.
Looking out towards the costal ranges.
Back in the Whistler Village. A water feature that passes through the area.
One of the dogs seen in the area. This one was tiny.
The view down one of the winding people only streets of the Whistler Village. It's a great looking place.
A Quick 3 frame panorama looking outside from the hotel balcony.
Frame 2 - Bottom left of this image was a great Crape restaurant. Very yummy indeed!
Frame 3 - As you can see the place is plastered with different hotels.
Another lightly snow covered mountain range on the way back to Vancouver
Taken out of the car window a wonderfully hazy set of mountains at the edge of the water.
Another shot further around the inlet.
