Magazine ads, Brochures, Packaging and Pamphlets

Print design offers more freedom compared to web design, with a wider range or reproducible colours, tints and fonts / type styles.

Part of designing things is learning from what people had done in the past. The Kapow magazine ads are an example of this. They have a bold yet simple style still remains current.

GottaHave is a brand I designed for a children's clothing business belonging to a good friend of mine. Pictured in each circle is the wonderful and ohh so smiley Coco.

A Break Down of the Designs...

Dr Who Comic Con Banners

These are the largest pieces of print design I have done so far. They were designed for the Weta Limited stand at the LA Comic Con.

The banners stand two meters tall. Because of their size they had to be super high resolution. This meant they were very photoshop intensive.

The clean up and clear cutting the shapes from their background right down to the pedantic path cutting around the wires on Davros' head took a very long time. It was well worth it, with the banners being very well received by the client and attendees at the convention.

Weta Cave Flyers

With the grand opening of the Weta Cave soon approaching they needed a design that could be used as a print ad, and a flyer suitable for tour companies to hand out.

The design not only had to promote the items on sale, but also show some of the Weta Limited brand values.

The image of Sauron is intended to be eye catching to the reader. Because the images were taken with a macro lens two images had to be photoshoped together so both were in focus.

GottaHave.co.nz

The brief for gottahave was to create branding that not only was visually appealing but also enabled the brand to grow as the company does.

The design had to be sophisticated to draw potential customers. As the company had different products it was important for the branding not to concentrate on a single product range, but give an overall feel for the products that would be available..

Jingle Beats Flyer

Jingle Beats was a Christmas Eve dance party. This project required a very quick turn around time with an equally small budget.
The client was presented with six design variations, finally deciding to go with the design on the right.

The chosen design was printed on a glossy 100gsm stock for easy distribution to outlets to advertise the event.

Kapow Branding Exercise

As part of the whole branding exercise for Kapow I produced items of print material based on print ads features in top fashion magazines.

The first design was simple and to the point. When trying to reach new customers it's important to grab the readers attention straight away. The second would appear a couple of pages later with seems to be a common trend now. It contains more information.

As always the designs following the Kapow branding with clean crisp lines.
