A card for all seasons

I started making my own cards in 2001. They were more personal than the store bought ones and gave me a chance to work on my design, photography and typography.

Originally all my Christmas cards followed a similar layout and style. The paper they're printed on is textured and slightly transparent. Consistency of style was important. It's similar to branding, you get the card in the mail and you instantly recognise the layout and the kind of paper.

Later cards used different layouts and styles.

About some of the cards...

Christmas 2008

2008's card was a complete departure from my usual Christmas Card style. It was time for a change. My obsession with Squirrels lead me to create this card. It's a mix of compositing images and over painting to get the desired look.

2008's card was also Eco Friendly. I emailed them to my friends and colleagues rather than involving, printers, postal workers and trucks.

Christmas 2006

The end of 2006 was all about shameless self promotion. I did two cards that year to promote the sale of my photos on canvas. It was also a format change, to smaller landscape cards. The two image pictured are from a selection of 30 images for sale.

Christmas 2003

The 2003 Christmas card was inspired by the MTV Movie awards for that year. The awards main theme was comics. The card has a three panel inside section.
