Work Examples
Here's a brief taste of what I've been up the last 10 plus years. Items are organised in to sections rather than years.
Section: Digital Compositing using Combustion & Photoshop
Jane and the Dragon Compositing I'd done a little compositing in the past. But this was another level. I had to learn the application from scratch, picking up the process and how things were done along with getting hundreds of shots ready for review. From the last episode I comped.
This episode was huge. With guidance from head of Visual FX (Trevor Brymer) I put together the stormy grade/look for this episode. It was a great learning experience and one of my favourite episodes.
Section: Motion Capture using EvaRT - Jane and the Dragon was Weta Productions first TV show. I was part of a team assembled to make the 26 episode show.
Jane and the Dragon MoCap My role was mottion capture operator, making sure the system was ready to go, working closely with the actors and assistant directors. This picture shows Jane (Angela Green) with her back against a perspex rig for the episide fathers day.
Angels's hitting a large blanket with mocap markers to provide the movement for the final tapesty. This saved a lot of time, because the shot would have been passed back and fortth between departments (Animation, then simming cloth, then animation on and on.
Section: DVD: Synergy Web & Multimedia Cinema Presentation
DVD: Synergy Web & Multimedia Cinema Presentation. Held in Wellington's Reading cinema complex this intro played before the Spiderman movie was used to inform the clients of the Web Team's capabilities. It was designed to look like a typical trailer.
The first clue that this wasn't any mormal trailer. Little spiders were animated across the screen to reveil the Synergy logo.
Work examples, a moving montage of the Road Code CD-Rom and other projects.
Important words to associate with the web team rushing towards the aduience and disappearing as if made from smoke.
The finale, the Synergy logo and website address.
